What does that mean?

It means that we have passed all the requirements to provide viable training and education in the construction trades - specifically in the area of building with logs.

We teach log contruction in several styles for application in both residential and commecial projects with these time honored traditional skills. Students learn how to build in the traditional 1500 year old Scandinavian full-scribe-to-fit method - chinked and chinkless, they will learn how to build the traditional hewn log with dovetail syle of construction, Post 'en Sill Log Post & Beam construction. Log floor support systems, log truss and purlin roof support systems, door and window opening preparation to allow for settling and installation of the doors and windows. Our graduates will learn and understand layout practices for log joinery in a variety of applications. Our approach to teaching allows any skill level to quickly pick up and keep up with the hands-on experience enjoyed by all students - no one is left behind. With over 20 years of teaching the traditional craft of building with logs, we have developed an easy-to-learn step by step hands-on approach. Log building blue print reading, design, site selection, estimating, log yard /project management are all covered

In addition, we also teach Log Home Care, Maintenance & Restoration practices. The requiste skills to build with logs from scratch are also required to tackle a wide variety of log replacement tasks. Some logs need complete replacement while others need onlu the exterior third of a log replaced. - we'll show you how to locate the bad logs and asess the costs to the homeowner. Students will have an extensive understanding of a family of products used in log home care, maintenance and restoration work. The Permachink Systems Family of products is what we use. Our graduates will be able to build log post and beam porches with locking self-draining joinery - assuring that it is solid, strongly built and going to last - we also go into assessing the causes of log deterioration and how to make improvements so that it is no longer an issue in the future.

Across  America, log replacement is needed. It must be detected and stopped. To protect their greatest investment, home owners try to fix their own homes and all to often, make matters worse because they don't know how to work with the logs and the kinds of breathable finishes it requires to clean, protect and preserve the log structure. The demand is so high, there are Log Home Services Providers traveling across the US towing an RV and all their tools and equipment -literally picking their jobs - and naming their price too. There is little or no competition and most of them are just painters and handiman service providers. Start your own Log Home Services business with this training and you should be busy all the time. This is specialized work and a great deal of your success will be attributed to your training, extensive product knowledge and desire to have a service oriented business providing a service that is high in demand.
